Allen Chapel’s Mission

To serve God by preaching and teaching the Word, encouraging spiritual growth and ministering holistically to the family, community and nation in a sinful and dying World.

About US

The history of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church is an eloquent testimony to the faith of the human spirit. Even though Allen Chapel has been around for nearly 100 years, it continues to evolve based on the needs of the community it serves. We strive to be true to God’s word while being relevant to the people we serve. Allen Chapel AME Church, as a physical church, has evolved from small group church meetings in homes to a small church structure in Scotlandville to the church we have today.

The message espoused at Allen Chapel is faithful to Jesus and the Bible but the methodology for delivering God’s word is modern, relevant and relatable. Through the use of real life applications, we are able to be both relevant and relatable as we find timely ways to communicate a timeless message. There is significant emphasis on making the gospel message understandable to everyone seeking to come. Finally, we strive to meet the needs of the poor and needy in our community.

When you join Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, you join a community of people who are just like you and people who are truly interested in your well-being. In addition to Sunday worship, we have many events from the Lay Organizations to Mission group to dance and drill teams. Check out our community!

Come worship with us at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church located at 6175 Scenic Highway, Baton Rouge, LA. Sunday Worship service at 11:00AM.

Mid-Week Bible Study

We offer Bible Study on Wednesdays at 6:00PM. All are welcomed to make Mid-Week Bible Study a part of your weekly routine. Come grow with us, as we learn how to live God’s Word.

Sunday Church School

Sunday School is held each Sunday morning at 9:30AM. The Sunday school is an excellent opportunity to study God's word more deeply and exchange ideas of faith with like-minded believers. Teachers enthusiastically prepare to enrich and touch the lives of our students, encouraging their hearts and minds to do the will of God. They strive to be a living example for all students of the Christian faith. Classes are available for all ages. Everyone is welcome!

Outreach Ministries

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” -Galatians 5:13 (NIV)

Our Food Bank Ministry operates on Tuesday and Friday from 9:00AM to 11:30AM. The focus of this ministry is to touch the surrounding communities with the love of Christ by offering both spiritual and physical food to those in need as an expression of Christ’s love.

Our Church Van Outreach Ministry provides Allen Chapel with the opportunity to obey Christ’s command to “go and make disciples of all nations”. Through our van ministry our church moves outside the walls into our surrounding neighborhoods. Please call our church office at 225-356-0719 if you would like a ride to our Wednesday Midweek Bible Study, Sunday Church School or Sunday Worship service. Through this ministry we are able to provide transportation for members, friends and the community as well as provide for potential for sustained growth for kingdom building.
